THE LIONESS (2)
#Episode_Two
"Come to think of it, must every relationship end in chaos? Must acrimony escort every break up?" Felix fixed his lazer eyes on Felicia who was acting a scene because he told her it was over between them.
Felicia really liked him, but she wasn't ready to leave the highway just yet. She enjoyed the freedom, attention, and benefits her voluptuous body generates, and wants to combine that with being in a stable relationship. Felix has gotten tired and just wants to move on.
"Like I said before, I won't beg for your time and attention anymore. The more you ignored me, the more I got used to being ignored. When you stopped calling me, I stopped waiting for your calls. When you stopped texting me, I got rid of my habit of checking my phone all day. The more you stayed away from me, the more I adapted to staying away from you. I told you that one day I would learn to live without you and move on, today is that day." He stopped when she dropped her jaw in shock. 😲
"I just want us to focus on whatever makes us happy. Maybe we should be just friends." With that, he placed a hand on her shoulder, she brushed it off, grabbed her bag and walked to her car. Happy that she could now freely travel with her rich lovers without having to explain or lie to anybody about it, but sad that her friends already saw it coming. You can't eat your cake and have it.
"Tell me all about it." Laraba and Funmi got talking about the possibility of settling down in the future. They're both successful, Funmi is in a relationship with Uche and might lead to something, but Laraba is gamophobic. Last time a man went down on one knee in an attempt to propose to her, she choked on the bubblegum in her mouth, and ended up in the hospital. 😐
Now there's this new guy she met on their last hangout and can't seem to stop thinking about the things he said to her.
"He told me that I was the ugliest at our table that night, that's why he picked me in order to boost my confidence." Laraba said smiling.
"That turned me on about him. And when I asked why he thought I'd be interested in him, he said because I was single. That I am still single because our paths hadn't crossed." 🤔
"Damn, he's sleek like that? Ask for a second date already." Fumni laughed.
"I don't want to see him again abeg, did you see the size of his head? I am afraid he would say something stupid and I'd fall for him. I'm never attracted to normal guys, this one is definitely an idiot, a smart idiot." Laraba sighed.
"If you'll see him again, the bill is on me. I promise. What does he do for a living?" Asked Funmi.
"Said he's a wheeler-dealer, whatever that means. There's something shrewd about him, can't place my finger on it, but he's definitely hiding something."
Funmi giggled, "then see him again and find answers, or go to the grave with unlived lives in your pants." 😂
Sister Rahila was leading the praise and worship in church on a hot Sunday afternoon. Hands raised to the heavens, eyes closed, and a voice like an angel's.
Sitting behind and "eyeing" her well formed backside was the senior pastor whom they called #Papa. And in the congregation before her, was her beloved boyfriend Bro Monday. There's this glow on her face that could be chalked-up to excessive makeup application, but it wasn't. She was pregnant and didn't even know it yet. Papa is going to be a papa. 😂
Bro Monday just thought it was God's grace shining on his woman's face. He admired and desired to spend forever with a Godly woman such as this. He has always imagined their first night together after the whole wedding party. He isn't a virgin but doesn't really know how to go about being the first guy to deflower a lady. The thought of the pain and blood scares him a great deal. 🤔
Rahila was in church since 6am, and has to attend all two services before attending workers' meeting after service, then go home.
As she stood up to lead the last hymn after the sermon, she got dizzy, missed a step and fell backwards in front the the whole congregation. There was pandemonium as both Papa and Monday were first to jump out of their seats. She's passed out. Luckily, Papa's wife #Mama is medical doctor and has a private clinic withing the church premises. Members helped rush the unconscious lady to the clinic for tests to be carried out. Monday held her hand and whispered in her ear, "everything's gonna be just fine."
Mary and Josh are beginning to have issues in their relationship, and it's related to how they are both getting really busy and communication is thinning between them.
He calls every time and she misses the calls. And whenever she calls him back, he's always busy with people and can't talk for long. Both are getting frustrated with each other's attitude and the cracks are beginning to emerge.
"All I'm asking is that you send an SMS that you are busy and will ring back. But I'll have to wait the whole day, and sometimes I'll be the one to call again before you apologize with excuses for missing my calls. Don't you think I'd get tired of your excuses? Is that too much to ask for?" Josh was trying not to sound bossy.
"You need to create time for us too, you always make me feel like a third party in our relationship. You must learn to show the other people that I'm also important. Talk to me when I call back, without having to rush off the phone like I'm now a pest. Makes me feel really bad." She was really sad.
"You want us to get married this year, what do we have in the bank for such a huge responsibility? You think you'd still feel the same way about me if I stopped working hard and became poor? Do you think any parent would want to give their child to a man who owns nothing?" Now Josh is visible irritated.
"I'm doing everything because we need the money, not because I am catching fun working my ass off. I want to be able to give you the life you deserve, so I will work hard even if it's going to kill me. I'd rather break up with you than become a poor man on the street."
The last part tore through her like a spear. The only thing she heard was, he loved his job more than he loved her. And she wouldn't stand between him and his goals. She was broken.
She was actually going to show him the letter she received from their family lawyer, stating that she just got #80m Naira estste from a savings she didn't know her late father kept in stocks. Josh may not even need to work this hard again, but he picked his work over her. She asked him to leave, he tried to explain himself better, but she already picked what she wanted to hear. She banged the door after him, and collapsed on the couch, sobbing away.
