THE UNBLEMISHED DEMON

I remember being told to stop using Procter and Gamble products because the company owner paid dues to the devil. I was only a kid, but I knew it was a bloated hoax. 🙄

Religious fanatics believed the lie and helped spread it on behalf of those who started it to gain a competitive advantage in the industry. 

Later on, we were again lied to that ingesting and bathing with salt water before the sun came up would prevent us from getting the Ebola virus. 🤣

Many educated folks fell for this lie without question and went further to spread it like wildfire down the grapevine. 

Now, why are we always eager to believe and spread rumours and lies without challenging the authenticity of their source? 

If I believed the things I'd been told about the people in my life, I would be without a single friend today. But I was sharp enough to know that nobody talks bad about another unless they're jealous or outright hating. 😒

You'd find yourself a damn fine thing to date but people who don't even know them would tell you that your crush has slept with everybody in town, or they have HIV, or they cannot be trusted, or they're complete assholes. 🤷🏽‍♂️

The question now is; what do they stand to gain by smearing another person's reputation without actually knowing them? 

Personally, I've heard rumours about myself that I never tried to defend because it was pointless. People believe what they want to believe whether it is true or false. My only job is to live the life I want to live and succeed without yielding to the distractions from these sinless people who get high on dragging other people's names in the unforgiving gutter of gossip. 

Procter and Gamble as a company only got bigger and more profitable because it focused more on its business than on the smear campaign. 

The salt we consumed did not kill Ebola, it only harmed and killed many innocent people who believed the fabricated lies. 

That's what these lies do, harm and ruin innocent people's lives.

Sometimes, I ask myself what pushes people you have never met, to lie and smear your reputation, or even wish evil upon you. Then I realized that they only operate from the cortex of their default setting. That's what bitter, failed, and toxic people do. That's who they are, and that's exactly what they want to see in others. So whether it happened or not, they must create your story to reflect their toxicity and emptiness. They feel good by making every other person look bad.

The best way to deal with such is just to continue to focus on your success and growth, continue to break barriers and continue to raise the bar for them. A day would come when their own topic takes the center stage, and their name gets dragged in the gutters also. And just like Narcissus of Greek mythology, Nemesis would cause them to drown in the pool as they stoop to admire the reflection of their sinless, spotless, blameless, and faultless lives on the surface of the water. 

Just focus on your job and let them continue to dwell on your stories. It is the end-result that justifies everyone's level of success. 😎
