FAITHFUL HYPOCRITE

 The last time one of my siblings went to church was for his wedding. Six years later, I asked why he stopped going to church and he said, "I don't want to share the same space with hypocrites. Go and read Psalms 1:1".🤔

After a long exhortation from me, he opened up to tell me that one pastor once got his girlfriend pregnant and insisted she did an abortion. The lady later died from complications resulting from the unprofessional evacuation carried out. 😡

And also told me how one pastor kicks and slaps his wife silly but would stand on the podium to preach to newlyweds about love, patience and loyalty. 😐

He bared his mind about religious hypocrisy and his disdain for those who wanna look holy for the camera. I told him the church was not a place for the righteous but for the rotten ones to come find salvation. He said he wasn't rotten, so we should continue going. 🤣

I had a friend who could sing the heavens down with her stage performance. People cried and rolled on the floor whenever she grabbed the microphone and sang worship songs. The same holy singer dragged my carrot with me for six years saying she must "chop" it like she did one of my friends from Kurmi. 😒

Whenever I see overtly religious people displaying some level of seriousness because they are in church, I ask myself, "who are these guys fooling?"  🤷🏾‍♂️

A married elder that was toasting one babe in the congregation had the audacity to serve holy communion where she sat in church. 🤜🏾

I remember how some stories made headlines about pastors sleeping with their female members and some pastor-worshippers jumped in to defend the holy pricks as if they were there when "Moses parted the Red Sea with his rod". 😒

Men of God are "men" not spirits. It is normal for them to have the feelings men have. It is normal for them to crush on single or married women. It is normal for them to drink alcohol like everyone else. It is also normal for them to want worldly things since they are still in the world. I just don't understand what gave them the effrontery to condemn another in the open for doing the things they also indulge in secret. 😐

You can't be sleeping with choristers but punish the choir-master for borrowing a leaf from your book. 🤷🏾‍♂️

A rich man can have two wives and still be allowed to stand on the pulpit, I don't get it. Does money buy God's forgiveness through these pastors? 🤬

Some of us only attend services for a fashion parade, selfies and hookups. The rest of us just want to look religious enough in the company of family and friends, nothing changes after years of consuming the word of God. 

I pray we learn to keep our religiosity a secret like we do our sex lives. Nobody cares what you and your God are up to, just act per the laws and that is already enough to convince me that you are a good person. Not quoting the scripture every damn time or defending Christianity like it needed your help to survive all these centuries. 🙄

Sometimes I don't know how to answer when asked about the religion I practice. Because a Christian should be Christ-like. Am I, though? No! 

So why lie that I am Christian when I'm not? 😒

As a mere mortal, I was designed to fall and tumble on the road to finding salvation. That does not mean I am condemned. I am just being human. I'm just not pretending with men to trick God into accepting me into His Kingdom. 

Like David, I must show penitence whenever I drag myself up from every fall. And that is between me and my Creator, to hell with what men think. 🧘🏾‍♂️

The most important aspect of this is your "personal" relationship with God. If you're ashamed to tell me about your wild escapades, don't bother telling me about God. I won't even listen. 😒

Happy Sunday, my people. May we never find solace in pretence. May we always find the heart to repent and the strength to rise from every fall. And may God never get tired of forgiving our shortcomings. 🙏🏾
